Portrait of Asia Kayanan

Science × Business

A dual-brained marketer

The science side

BS Kinesiology and Health, Exercise Science

Coursework in biology, anatomy, and sports management built a rigorous, evidence-based understanding of human performance and health, and a habit of grounding decisions in research.

The business side

MS Marketing, McCombs School of Business

I'm now building expertise through advanced coursework in marketing analytics, applied AI, and brand strategy to transform audience insights into marketing decisions that drive results.

The result: understanding the numbers, the audience, and what makes both move.

The leadership behind the work

Building my leadership foundation

27team members led as Captain and President of Texas Pom, an NCAA D1 spirit team

My leadership philosophy

Leading the Texas Pom Squad represented a tradition, a university, and a community greater than ourselves. I strived to honor that responsibility by building a culture of discipline, accountability, and belonging that empowered each of my teammates to contribute to something bigger than themselves.

Athlete Immersion Program · 2026

Summer at Stryker

I was invited to attend Stryker's 2026 Athlete Immersion Program in Flower Mound, TX, representing The University of Texas.

I saw firsthand how Stryker advances healthcare through innovative medical technology, and here are my 3 key takeaways from this experience:

1

You fall to your level of preparation.

About 80% of our time is preparation, 20% is the performance. Your performance ultimately becomes a reflection of the habits, discipline, and work you've put in long beforehand.

2

Build on your natural talents.

Leaning into our natural talents creates the greatest opportunity to excel. My top 5 Gallup CliftonStrengths are: Futuristic, Achiever, Positivity, Strategic, and Developer.

3

Be a thermostat, not a thermometer.

A thermometer reads the atmosphere. A thermostat shapes it. Be the one who sets the tone.
